You Don’t Need to Be Psychic to Read Tarot. You Just Need to Listen

When I first started reading Tarot, I thought I needed to grow a third eye, channel a spirit guide, or at the very least, see visions in candle flames. Spoiler: I did none of those things. And yet, my readings landed. People cried. People nodded. People messaged me days later saying, “You won’t believe what just happened.”

No, I’m not psychic. I don’t astral project. I don’t get mysterious downloads from the spirit realm while meditating in a silk robe under the full moon. What I do have is a sharp ear, a curious mind, and an obsessive need to understand what’s really going on beneath the surface.

Tarot isn’t about predicting who you’ll marry or whether that job offer will magically appear in your inbox next Thursday. (If that’s what you’re hoping for, I’m not your reader.)

Tarot is about listening. To the cards. To the energy between the lines. And most importantly, to the person sitting in front of you, or on the other side of a screen.

Listening is a skill, not a superpower.

Anyone can memorise the meanings of the cards. But listening? That’s where the magic is.

It’s noticing the hesitation in someone’s voice when they ask about a relationship.
It’s observing the cards that keep showing up across different questions and having the courage to ask why.

It’s pausing before blurting out a textbook interpretation and asking, “Does this feel true for you?”

Most people aren’t looking for answers. They’re looking for clarity. Permission. A safe container to reflect, feel, and decide. The cards just help us get there but it’s the listening that makes it land.

You don’t need to be mystical. You need to be present.

Some of the most powerful readings I’ve done weren’t because I said something profound. They were because I asked the right question at the right time. Because I held space instead of rushing to give answers. Because I wasn’t trying to impress anyone with how “intuitive” I was.

I wasn’t trying to be a Tarot expert. I was just... there. Fully.

And trust me, that alone is rare in today’s world.

So if you’ve been afraid to pick up a Tarot deck because you don’t think you’re “spiritual enough”...

Let that go.

Tarot isn’t gatekept by the psychic elite. You don’t need to have visions, see auras, or “feel energy” in a room to be a damn good reader. You just need to practise noticing. Asking. Being honest. Staying curious.

And listening.. deeply, bravely, and without the need to fix or predict.

Because the truth is, most of us already know what we need. We just need someone to help us hear it.

Let the cards speak.
Let the client speak.
And above all, let yourself listen.
